For the XTERRA Warrior, Grabouw offers the opportunity to mountain bike in widely varying conditions. From gravel fire roads to rough jeep track and technically challenging single track, pine plantations to Cape Fynbos.
Surface conditions are also varied, from ragged rocky conditions, pine needle covered trail, loose gravel and of course the ubiquitous sand! Grabouw is NOT flat, you will need to have your climbing legs with you and you will need your descending skills finely tuned. It is, after all, the XTERRA South African Championship forming part of the XTERRA World Circuit!
With a 1.5km swim, a 25.6km mountain bike and a 12.4km trail run for the full Xterra triathlon, this is the perfect addition to your IRONMAN 70.3 or full IRONMAN training programme.

There are also walking and hiking trails in the surrounding nature reserves, bird watching, and a range of other outdoor activities, including kayaking, quad biking, horse riding and ziplining – there’s a fun way for the whole family to appreciate the natural surrounds.
Grabouw has a number of historical buildings, and the town is also popular for its annual summer music concerts and other cultural events. Local sculptors and other artists have studios in the town. Art exhibitions regularly take place at local galleries, sometimes located on upmarket wine estates.
